Sci-Tech High School will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day. Classes resume Tuesday, Sept. 8, on a regular schedule.
The holiday falls on the first Monday of September each year and honors the American labor movement. It grew out of 19th-century union demonstrations and the fight for shorter workdays, and Congress made it a federal holiday in 1894. Today it doubles as an unofficial send-off to summer.
The closure applies district-wide across Wayside Schools, according to a district announcement.
Students with work due Monday should check with teachers about revised deadlines before the long weekend.
